As a thriving and highly profitable IT services company, Protech Solutions has successfully executed a variety of projects ranging from large child support systems for state governments in the US to banking solutions for major banks. The company that was founded in 1995 with few resources has grown globally with offices in seven countries, a resources staff of around 300 strong and a development center in India.
A legacy of its early startup years was a web site that could not keep up with the tremendous growth of the company. Protech's initial web system comprised of a set of static HTML pages with minimal interactivity. The company quickly realized the requirements of a highly effective site to support business operations.
Initial evaluation for a custom in-house web site was quickly shelved to bypass lengthy and costly development and integration processes. Instead, Protech selected ReadyPortal Software platform to build a dynamic site that showcases the company as technologically innovative and most importantly to keep pace with changing business needs.
Protech Builds Innovative Site To Support Global Operations
Red Dog Software's software version of its flagship ReadyPortal web building platform addressed business concerns and met technical requirements set by Protech. Technical requirements included:
A ready set of components packaged with the platform, for example discussion forums and HTML content templates.
A highly intuitive interface and content management application to rapidly re-build the site from scratch.
Customization features needed to facilitate design and creative integrity for the entire site.
A software product offering that would allow Protech to utilize ReadyPortal as a framework for external and homegrown portal applications.
Operationally, the company's goal was the find a web solution that enabled domain experts to contribute and maintain content without restraining the design team from working on the look and feel of the site. Administrators cite ReadyPortal's flexibility as the key benefit of the platform.
"During the implementation process we discovered that ReadyPortal was designed to deliver a powerful out-of-the-box application with a plethora of offerings yet supporting customization at every level," said Nagaraj Garimalla, Director of Protech Solutions.
"The platform was definitely easy to manage but the icing on the cake has to be Custom HTML which allowed us to maneuver through every roadblock. With minimal web development effort, our team was able deploy a content and design rich site in a short period of time."
The new Protech site effectively took about a month to develop and was launched in July, 2006.
The Results
According to Garimalla, Protech's second generation site finally reflects its corporate identity a dynamic and innovative company with global reach. The ability to add and remove text modules, pages and features will ensure their site effectively responds to ongoing corporate activities. Highlights of Protech's new web system include:

As a next step, with more understanding about ReadyPortal's Custom HTML features, the design team plans to breakout of fixed layouts by creating custom templates for the site. Additionally, the company is reviewing Readyportal as a platform to deliver innovative portal solutions in development at Protech.
